Promoters and Planners, look what we can do for your event...
- The Del Oro Pacific operates the oldest and largest "G" scale modular layout in the United States, and our modular design has become the standard for many other modular
clubs that have formed around the country. When fully assembled, our professional display measures roughly 88' X 62' with over 1200 feet of track on two main lines and
the five-track yard.

- The sheer size of the layout allows us to operate up to three trains per mainline or a total of six trains simultaneously. The modular concept allows the Club to set-up
the layout in a wide variety of configurations.

- The mainline and the yard have sweeping curves which allow the operation of almost any engine, from small industrials to 1:20.3 narrow gauge to 1:32 articulated engines.
- The trains can range in length from a foot or two to 60 feet or more.

- The scenery is one of the major attractions about the layout. Most of the scenery is mounted on what we call "add-on" modules that are mounted behind or in front of the
regular modules that contain the mainline track. Various members have scratch-built structures and a wide variety of backdrops. Many of these add-ons feature animations
and are very popular with show visitors.

- The Club's mission is to educate the public and expand the interest in large-scale trains, and to be of service to the communities through various volunteer displays helping
them to further their particular programs. Though membership in the Club constitutes hard work, we also have a lot of fun. We believe the experience of watching our own
trains ramble around this large, highly detailed layout is most rewarding and enjoyable, as are the interactions with the public and the camaraderie with like-minded hobbyists.
This table and the illustrations that follow show four standard layout configurations.
Standard Del Oro Layout Configurations
|
| Configuration | Length | Width | Yard Location |
| Size | Type | (Feet) | (Feet) | (Relative to mainline loop) |
| Large | "U" | 88 | 62 | Outside, parallel to one side of mainline |
| Medium | "Eight" | 84 | 50 | Outside, off side of mainline |
| Medium | "Diagonal Yard" | 59 | 59 | Inside, on diagonal |
| Small | "Eight" | 70 | 46 | Outside, off side of mainline |

- Since the standard module is "4" feet long, there is some freedom to expand, or contract, the configurations shown in 4 foot increments. However, there are physical
constraints caused by the broad curves, typically 8 foot radius (16 foot diameter), and the size of the yard entrance, 12.5 feet, and the width of the yard, about 22
feet. The dimensions listed include space for a 2 foot walkway/barrier all around the layout. There are also operational constraints as the gear weighs tons and must
be moved from the trailers to the show floor location. It is highly desirable to be able to directly off load the trailers at the show floor location.

- Because our portable layout is modular, the set-up, operation and take-down of the layout constitute strenuous exercise and generally require four to five hours to complete
the set-up of the mainline and yard modules. Set-up of the scenery can double the length of time required. The Del Oro Pacific modules and major components are brought to
a show in one or two trailers and the scenery in a third. The trailers packed specifically for each show. Generally about 20 members show up for set-up and tear-down of a
large layout.
