Forest Fire…..

At the other end of the forest, a gallant effort by a U.S. Forestry Service fire-fighting crew got the wind-driven blaze under control
Scratch-built by Dennis Packer and Martin Orozco, the scene has plenty of action including flames, smoke and water being pumped thru a hose
A small pump under the table sends water up thru a fire truck and then thru a hose into the fire and then recycles thru a hole in the table back to the pump
A helicopter stands by in the event aerial surveillance or water drops are needed
Things appear to be heating up so the helicopter gets ready to take off. The blades and rotor turn to the sound of the Huey engine and radio transmissions
ABC cameraman Martin Orozco from Channel 7 news catches all the action
Martin Orozco kit-bashed European trucks into USFS fire trucks and painted the figures in USFS uniform colors
Dennis Packer worked closed with M-TEC trees in West Sacramento in coming up with the realistic burn trees, logs and stumps
A party fogger was used to pump non-toxic, water-based fog, thru holes in the table making it look like smoke; a remote on the fogger allowed for bursts of smoke to be sent up intermittently, which gets the crowds attention
The scene without the mountain backdrop or firefighters
